Fujifilm are well know for their retro-style cameras, with the old fashioned feel and all the buttons and dials you could wish for to help make photography feel like a pleasurable, tactile experience. But when they released the Fujifilm X-T4 in April 2020 it was a camera with more than just funky styling - it was jammed packed with state of the art tech to give you a full on, professional experience in a retro styled camera of yesteryear.

The specs of this camera are just a good for stills photographers as they are for video shooters, and now the X-T4 boasts a separate, dedicated menu for video and stills, depending which mode you are in. This is really convenient and was much awaited by Fujifilm users of the previous model - the Fujifilm X-T3.

If you're looking for a camera that can satisfy your need for high resolution images in a smaller APSC sized body, the Fujifilm X-T4 may just be what you need.

Verdict

I have been so impressed with my Fujifilm X-T4, and it quickly became my favourite camera of choice for all video and stills photography. Having the IBIS cannot be overstated, as it's mean't I can shoot on long hikes without needing to take a tripod. I've used the camera for landscape photography shoots, food photography, video projects, interior photography, commercial photography and in lots of other scenarios, and it's never let me down.

I often find that I'm having to quickly switch between stills and video for commercial projects, and YouTube content and this is where the IBIS comes into its own. In a matter of a couple of seconds, I can change from stills mode to video, and the cameras dedicated modes remember my settings so I can be ready to shoot instantly.

I paired my Fujifilm X-T4 with the XF 18-55 lens, and it's worked perfectly. the lens is phenomenal quality, and works extremely well with video too.

The Autofocus on the X-T4 is massively improved on it's predecessor, the X-T3 with eye tracking now much quicker and more reliable. this makes portraits and tracking wildlife much easier. Sports photographers will love this too.

My verdict is that for the price of a mirrorless stills camera, you're also getting professional video capabilities in the same package. Plus, with IBIS you're getting the extra benefit of smooth footage. For me, this camera is incredible well priced for the quality of product included. So, yes - it's worth it!
